Layout Gallery
Just a few pictures that didn't fit in anywhere else.
| I've tried to build in lots of little scenes on the layout. Here's a couple of workmen taking a break beside the engine shed. The workmen's huts are based on photographs of Victorian railways being constructed. They look a lot more interesting than today's portacabins ! |

Sometimes details suggest themselves. For some reason Springside make a set of boardroom furniture. I thought this would be great to have being delivered. As far as I can tell it would have been wrapped in hessian and just for fun the delivery boy is sneaking a peek. |

If anyone takes a photo of the
layout at a show with a digital camera, I usually ask them to e-mail me at
phil@pagenumberone.co.uk
with a copy.
Les was one such person and he has kindly sent me these. The first view shows the tower wagon in the siding with Angus shunting. |

Les again with another angle. The foreground is starting to build up nicely. At the right of the picture you can see the entrance to the fiddle yard with a little bit of hospital building beside it. |
| The trolley pole and cable laying scene under construction. Yet another cart (BEC kit - could do with a better molded horse), traction engine and water cart (Langley) with various bits and pieces. |

The MKII in all its glory. Behind it is my father, Brian, looking pleased at having survived the first day at Sutton Coldfield show 2001 where we tried out the new model for the first time in anger. |
|
The Hospital had an on-site farm, and since it was the turn of the century a horse and cart collecting the flour sacks brought up by the railway seemed appropriate. The cart is a Slaters kit with lots of added details. |

MkI layout under construction. MKII is done in the same way. SMP track laid onto thin card (hardly worth the effort) and plywood baseboards. Also visible is one of the demountable hinges that hold the boards together AND provide accurate track alignment. |
